Who Resembles Who?

People are always asking me which of his two brothers Kai looks most like. I always say Ephraim but after looking at some photos of Ephraim and Clayton at Kai's age I'm not so sure he looks like either of them. You decide.

Kai ~5 months old.

Ephraim ~5 months old.

Clayton ~5 months old.

Harry Potter Fanatics

I would say I am a Harry Potter fan...not the psycho people who collect all things Harry Potter or are in love with the movie character but the normal fan who has read each book at least 3 times (except the most recent one...but I'm working on it!) and watches all the movies a couple times in the theater, and still watches the DVD's all the time... just a normal 27 year-old who can't get enough of a teen fantasy novel series.

So I just finished the last Harry Potter ever and am in a turmoil of emotions! I'm stoked because it was an awesome book, excited because there is still two more movies but depressed because this was the last book!! I know a lot of people aren't really happy with the last chapter add-on but I felt it was good closure for me (necessary to keep me from always wondering what happened to Harry?...Oh wait he's fictional you tell me!? Shoot!). I applaud J.K. Rowling and look forward to seeing the last two movies.

Thanks for a memorable 10 years!! (PS For those of you who loved the Harry Potter series, check out the Fablehaven series by Brandon Mull, VERY GOOD!!)

Jen and Kai visit from Cali

A good friend of mine from California was in Bellevue visiting family and took a trip up here for a day visit. When I first told the boys that Kai was coming over to play they were very confused and kept walking over to baby Kai's swing. Needless to say they weren't all that excited until they showed up. It was great to catch up and chat and our boys had a good time playing together. She has a little boy a few months younger then Ephraim named Kai and a baby on the way (due Sept. 11th). Kai looks like a little surfer with his bleach blonde hair and his very dark complexion. It was rather rainy and cold that day but he insisted on playing outside (because you can do that every day when you live in Cali) so she stripped him naked and let him loose. After only a minute my boys too wanted to go outside so I stripped off their clothes and let them outside in their undies! It was freezing and they were all smiling from ear to ear with their blue chattering lips. They played for a good 30 minutes before the cold became unbearable and they had to come inside. We had so much fun; hope to see our friends soon.

Can you tell which kids are from Washington?

Kai freezing his tan little buns off.

No mom, I'm not cold at all.

Jen (looking as prego as can be) and here little guy, Kai.

Underwater Adventure

My little Octopi
On Wednesday we were supposed to be going to Jetty Island with playgroup but due to crappy Seattle weather the island was shut down for the day. However, since I had woken up at the ridiculously early hour of 7AM (I know I'm not a morning person) I decided that we were going to go somewhere fun. We ended up going to the Seattle Aquarium because...well because I said so and I like fish! When we (the Ellis' joined us) got there the place was PACKED! I guess my idea of some indoor fun wasn't that unique after all. Can't understand why Seattlites don't just go play in the rain.

The boys watching the diver presentation.

Anyways, there was a new cool exhibit there with a humogous tank where a diver does a little performance which was pretty neat. It definately made me miss diving (I haven't been since I started having babies). Then we moved on past the wave pool with all the cool intertidal organisms to the touch tanks. Ephraim thought that it was pretty cool but Clay wasn't so excited about putting his hand on an anemone (in Nemo it very clearly states that anemone's will sting you). Oh well...we'll keep working on him.

Eph thought the touch tank was really neat.

I can't wait until my boys are old enough to scuba dive!

I don't think Ephraim really understood that this was supposed to be a fin of an orca but he enjoyed climbing on it all the same.

Clay showing me his ("20") teeth like the orca skull.

The boys got a kick out of the seals.

Feeling coral skeletons.

All the tanks were really cool. My boys really liked the harbor seals because they could climb up on a high fence to see them and they swam around in circles "super fast". We ended up having so much fun that we elected (poor) Andrea to go out in the pouring rain to get another pass for our cars so that we could stay for another couple of hours. All together it was a pretty fun day (minus the nervous breakdown Clay had walking through the stupid store on the way out and the motorcycle accident we witnessed as we were leaving).

Checking out the harbor seals. Eph is always talking about animals with a growl and a silly face (pictured here)...its so funny!

Sarah's 27th Birthday

I absolutely love my birthday; I usually claim the whole week as my "birthweek". I had 3 birthday parties this year for my 27th!!

On my actual birthday we went as a family with the Higgin's family to the Rainforest Cafe in Seattle. The food was so-so but the atomosphere was awesome. They have it set up like your in the rainforest with elephants and gorillas that move and make noise every 15 or so minutes. It also has "thunderstorms" and there are tons of beautiful salt water fish tanks all around so you can stare at the fish while you are waiting for your dinner. Chandra and Mike got me a huge volcano chocolate dessert (well they didn't actually know they were buying it for me, thanks guys) and the staff sang me happy birthday. It was a great night!

Clay didn't want to be in the picture with the cool gorilla. There's never a time when all three of them are cooperative!

We sat right next to an aquarium with a huge batfish in it; so cool!

I know she's my best friend because she came to all three of my birthday celebrations and didn't call me a spoiled brat one time!

The following thursday Andrea put together a girls night celebration at The Cheesecake Factory (my fav!!) in Bellevue. Natalie, Jerrae, Andrea, and Chandra came (and Kai of course). I had great food, delicious cheesecake, and the best company. They all chipped in for my meal; thanks guys!

My favorite cheesecake in the world; tuxedo!!!

That Saturday we put together a huge BBQ birthday party for Josh (turned 20 yrs old on the 9th) and I at Juanita beach park. We had over 50 people there so it was a total blast. The lake water was warm and not to nasty to swim in and the (imported) beach sand was great for the kids. There was a play structure and volleyball nets to top off an awesome location; we will definately use it again soon. Thanks to everyone who came; I love all my Washington friends!!!

The Cuevas' takin' a little siesta.

Dean Ellis and his two boys playing football.

So where are all the other parents? At least Andrea was there.

I must be special to have the Tim Karren make an appearance at my birthday. For my birthday he got me a "healthy" cookie, is he trying to say something?

Two pregos and one lame-o! Just kidding, love you guys.

Clay and Sam playing frisbee...they were actually pretty good.

Josh and Kelsey (Jill's little sister); SO CUTE TOGETHER!!

Ephraim thought our party was dull so he went to check out what his options were.

You'd think pregnancy was a trend after coming to my BBQ! Lookin' good Kayleen; good luck this week with little Neil.

How do I eat this dang thing? Tyler Ellis

The Martins are the best parents in the world!

Jon lighting our birthday cakes with a blow torch (guess its more manly that way).

Josh and I blowing out our birthday candles. Josh's cake said "You aren't a teenager anymore" and my cheesecake said "I hope this isn't too cheesy". Ahh...my husband's humor.

A picture to match his wife's (see the 4th of July BBQ). Chris Wilson

Lisa Belnap about to pop, and still willing to help out. Good luck this Wednesday on your c-section; can't wait to meet Lilly Belnap!

After the party my boys wanted to try on my swimsuits since theirs didn't really match their eyes. So cute!!

Sharing a little piece of us with you...
