Mastitis

This last weekend I met Labor's evil twin, Mastitis. I'm telling you she is downright mean! On Sunday I started to feel sharp pains and then boom, the fever hit. She kept me pretty miserable all of Sunday and Monday with a fever at 102.5º that just wouldn't break. I know people had mentioned Mastitis in passing but she deserves her own long conversation, because seriously the pain that she causes is pretty close to Labor's and she doesn't even give a reward for enduring her miserable company. Luckily, I was able to get some help from my buddy Vicodin or I think she would have been completely unbearable. The antibiotics are finally kicking in because I don't feel like death any longer. Mastitis has definitely overstayed her welcome; I hope that she never visits me again!

Best Friends

I love having a girl! Every time I look at Gabby I feel this amazing connection even though she is only 3 months old. I just know that we will be best friends! I am so grateful that Heavenly Father sent me a girl.

O Christmas Tree

On Saturday we met the Higgins at a u-cut tree farm in Redmond to pick out and cut down our Christmas tree. We decided to go smaller this year (the previous two years we have gotten huge 15+ ft trees) since we will be going to California for Christmas. They had a lot of nice Douglas' this year and it took us only 10 minutes to find a tree and cut it down. After we got our tree we had some complimentary hot cocoa (cider for me) and went on a hay ride. It was chilly but we had a great time- I love Christmas; filled with so many family traditions!

3 Months

I just couldn't pick one 3 month picture; these both are so darn cute!! Check this adorable chunky girl out!

My weight: 12.5 lbs

Where I'm at: Engaging with my toys and my family. Lots of smiles, coos and babblings, and reaching for things (not yet able to grasp them though). I'm a happy girl but have a pretty sensitive tummy, my mommy is really having a hard time eating to keep me happy! I love to be held and kissed.

Handi-Boys

I took my boys to do a project at Lowe's and we had a great time! Apparently, Lowe's hosts these little building projects for kids every other Saturday. I was totally stoked to learn about them as I have been looking for ways to tap in to Clay's handiness and interest in working with his hands. On the day that we went they built these cute little card holder (picture holder) snowmen. Clay was amazing; he sped through the whole thing without much guidance from me and he can hold a hammer and nail like a pro! I think we found one of his great talents. We will definitely be going to these often.

Where I'm at:
I'm finally getting some trunk strength. I just starting cooing a bit but it is still a lot of work! I love to smile- especially at my mommy :) This month Mommy and Daddy discovered that I have the same intestinal intolerance to milk and soy as my big brother Clay had...bummer for my mom; that means no cheese, milk, ice cream, etc. for at least a year! I am a very happy baby and sleep a good 4-5 hour stretch. I adore my brothers!!

RECAP:

October 4th- Clayton turned 6!! Holy smokes, I have a 6 yr-old kid! Clay has really been enjoying kindergarten. He is 4 ft 3 inches and weighs 50 lbs; basically he is one tall and skinny kid. He is a pleaser; which helps out in both school and his home. His teacher says he is his best kid behaviorly and he is way ahead of the rest of his class (he is also the oldest). It doesn't seem to bother him that he is ahead and we really just want him to have fun and enjoy school and learning at this point. For his birthday, he had 4 friends (+his brothers= 6 kids) over to play video games and eat pizza and cake. I made a monster jam cake (super easy) which he requested and ordered pizza- so easy! He had a lot of fun playing monster jam on XBox, jumping on the tramp, and eating yummy food. Happy Birthday Clayton- we look forward to many more birthdays with you!

October 11th-

Gabby was blessed today! Jon gave her the most beautiful blessing. I especially liked that he blessed her to be my friend. I already feel such a deep connection to my sweet baby girl, she fills my heart!

October 31st- Happy Halloween! For Halloween I took the three youngest to Trunk or' Treat at the church (Jon had to pick Clay up from a bowling b-day party) and it rained the whole time. We were drenched and cold so needless to say were happy to leave. After the ward thing we met the Martins and Ellis' back at our house for some pizza and hanging out. Jon ended up taking Clayton out in our neighborhood after our friends went home- luckily, it wasn't raining at that point. I thought it was cute that the boys costumes fit well with eachother and Gabby was the cutest little bumble bee ever!

Funny Things my Kids Say

Eph: When we both grow up and live next to eachother maybe when your mother (wife) leaves and my mother (wife) leaves I can sneak up and go to your house and we can play. Clay: Adults don't play and it's not your mom it's your wife.
Mom: Ouch, my foot is really hurting! Kai: You're still alive Momma.
Kai and I were going back and forth with the,"I love you to the moon, I love you to the sun, etc." I said, "I love you to Venus" and Kai responded, "I love you to the penis"...LOL!
Clay: Ephraim, why do you always copy me? Ephraim: Because I love ya.
Kai was playing with his train the other day and I overheard him saying, "You can do it Thomas" and of course I was thinking Thomas the kid's engine, and then I heard him say, " You can do it, Thomas Monson"...LOL!
Kai always sleeps in my bed. One day I asked him why he didn't like his bed and he said,"It's too fluffy."
Whenever asked any question from "What is your name?" to "What do you want to do today?", Kai always responds with "Quesadilla".
Kai spent a couple months calling everyone "boob-butt" (boob was taken from the recent Horton Hears a Who movie).
When Kai wants to be picked up he says, "Grab me".
All my boys sing the song Paradise City by Guns N' Roses...embarassing.
When you ask Kai his name he says "Coc-head"- he means coconut head.
In between Conference sessions they played the movie "The Other side of Heaven" and during the scene where the rats are chewing on his feet Kai yells, "Wake up Dude!"
Ephraim says' That's ridiculous!"
When I ask Kai anything he shakes his head violently and says, "No-no!"
Clay told me that he was making funny faces in his class and that the girls were laughing. I asked him if the boys laughed too; he said, "no, they got mad". He told me he likes girls better then boys because they're "pretty". Oh boy!
Clay had some food stuck in his throat and I told him to drink some water to wash it down. He said, "I think I need to use a screw to get it out"- OUCH!
I told Clay that if he ate all his veggies he would be big and strong like his daddy. He said, " Well, that's not strong enough".
Clay turned to me after a meal and said, "Thanks for making dinner Mom". Then he turned to Jon and said, "Thanks, Dad". Jon responded a bit surprised, "What for, I didn't do anything?" Clay replied, "For working". WOW!
Josh came over and was checking out our pear tree in the front yard and Clay put his face up real close to him and said, "Jesus made the pears, Uncle Josh." Josh said he felt like he was in church! HA HA
Clay was being a stinker and I told him to "please be more obedient Clayton Ryan" and he responded, "I'm not Clayton I'm Nephi" and my mom told him that Nephi would be obedient to his parents. So, after some thought he replied, "Oh, I'm not Nephi".
When they don't like a food the boys say its too "spicy".
When something is too hard for the boys to do they say its too "heavy".
My boys both say, "I don't want that ever ever again, so there!"
Clay informed me the other day that he also liked Momma's milk (like baby Kai). I told him that he drank cow's milk like Mommy and Daddy and after a moments thought he said "No, I just drink seahorse milk!"
