Update

The midwife called me today to tell my that my hcG levels hadn't increased enough from Monday to Wednesday (on Monday they were 1800 and they were at 2300 on Wednesday when they should have at least doubled) and they wanted to see me for an ultrasound immediately. I made an appointment for later that day then spent the rest of the day looking up ectopic pregnancy, bleeding, etc. until I was about to have a nervous breakdown! Jon decided he had better take me to the doctors just in case the news was bad and he needed to drive me home.

The first thing the doctor pointed out on the ultrasound was that the gestational sac was indeed INSIDE of my uterus- I sighed a huge sigh of relief. Toward the end, after measuring and checking for abnormalities (none) and leaks (none), we got to see the little fetal pole (0.24 cm!) and a cute little heartbeat- HOORAY!!!!!!! She couldn't record the heart rate because the little guy/gal is so little; so, they want me to come again next week for another look, just to make sure everything is okay. I am saying so many prayers of thanks right now!

Scary...

I have never had any problems with any of my previous pregnancies and am so grateful for that, my pregnancy brain is totally ridiculous when it comes to blowing everything totally out of proportion! So, that being said I had (or am having) a bit of a scare on Monday. I had a little bleeding Monday evening, which had me completely terrified. Jon gave me a blessing and in it promised that the baby (and I) would be healthy and strong throughout the pregnancy- I did feel a lot of relief after the blessing but I was still worried (I know- lack of faith...I'm trying).

I called my midwife the next day and she had me come in to take a blood test and urine sample and then I took another blood test today. I am assuming (because I haven't heard back from them - and she said they would contact me same-day immediately if there was a problem), now that everything is okay...but, I have to say every time I go pee I am horrified that there will be blood there! I know I am totally keyed up with anxiety, but its my baby and there is nothing more frustrating and scary then not being able to protect this perfect being that is in my care.

Oops, we did it again!

One potato, two potato, three potato, four...
and definitely NO MORE!

I don't really feel ready for this baby but I'm happy regardless. I have had a horrible stomache for about a week now and am hoping this won't be a constant companion throughout this pregnancy. Our life is a bit crazy right now between looking for a new job, new location, and now a new baby coming. Wow, when it rains it pours! I am so grateful for supportive family (especially my parents) and the gospel that gives me eternal perspective and hope.

PRAY FOR A GIRL!! (please)

A Sunny California Christmas

For our Christmas this year, we headed to sunny Santa Barbara to celebrate the holidays with my family. My grandparents were nice enough to fill there house (overflowing) with their kids, grandkids and great-grandkids! We used to easily fit in their 5 bedroom home but now that we have added to our family its just too tight of a sqeeze for us to all stay there; so, my grandparents friends (neighbors) let us also use their home sincethey were headed to Utah for the holidays. Jon and I planned on leaving to drive to California on Saturday December 20th but we needed to get new tires and we just weren't able to get everything together in time; so, we left Sunday afternoon in the crazy snowy weather. The drive was pretty precarious until we reached Salem, OR and we made horrible time. We ended up driving 5 hours longer than normal and the second day of driving was 14 hours rather than 9! But, we made it and the weather in southern Cali was divine...sigh...

We had so much fun decorating cookies, eating, singing, opening presents (thanks Kristen and Chris for the awesome gift- we are going to the movies on Saturday!), taking a trip to Disneyland on New Years Eve (thanks Mom and Dad for the trip we all had a great time!), and just spending time together. I am so grateful for such an amazing family; of smart, successful, and fun people. I LOVE YOU GUYS!
