Tidepooling at Mukilteo Lighthouse Beach

Today we met our TJED playgroup for low tide at Mukilteo beach. I haven't been tidepooling in awhile, so it was just so nice to be out exploring the intertidal zone. My boys of course love tidepooling just as much as I do and have great eagle eyes at spotting some cool critters!

The group, plus a few additions.

Chiton

Isabel and Clay

Goby species?

Opalescent Nudi
Clay discovered a seastar and Ephraim a huge crab, polychete worm, and an Opalescent nudibranch (MY ABSOLUTE FAV THING TO FIND!). I also found some cool Platyhelminthes (not quite as cute as the common variety I found in HI but still cool) under a rock, a huge chiton, and a cute little camoflaged goby (species?). We had a blast and can't wait to do some more exploring- if you have never been tidepooling and you live near an ocean I HIGHLY recommend it!

We heart our playgroup!
